Then come back and we'll discuss how to organize your office.

Ready? Okay...

Before going into exactly how to organize your office, it's important to set some intentions and define the purpose for your home office.

Whose space is it?

It's easier if everyone has their own space, but sometimes this isn't available. If you share your space with others, make sure each person has their own time to use the home office and their own place to store their personal items.

Do you use the space to run a small business, or do you work from home?

Do the kids do their homework or research there?

The fewer tasks shared in the same space, the better and more organized it will be. Home office organization is NOT about multi-tasking. The key is putting your full attention on what you're doing at the present moment.

Some Example Intentions to Organize a Home Office:

  • "My office if a peaceful place where I am productive because I am focused and have everything I need to work on the task at hand close to me."
  • "Our office has a space for everything so I can find what I need easily."
  • "My home office space facilitates my creativity because I know it is organized. I am free to put my energy and focus into what I am doing instead of worrying about clutter and things left undone."

Now write your own intentions and allow them to guide your actions as you move through the next steps.
