Garage organization is an inside-out job. That means that the state of organization (or lack of) in your garage is a reflection of your inner thoughts, feelings, and actions. What does the current state of your garage say about you? Do you lack clarity of purpose, thus creating chaos in your outer environment?

"What I don't understand is people who put stuff in the garage and park the car in the driveway, ... Have a garage sale!" ~Mark Williams
The process of garage organizing can feel overwhelming, which is why so many people procrastinate about it. It seems to exist on the perpetual "to-do" list in most households. So before you start piling things in the driveway, you need to set some intentions and clarify the purpose for this space. In general, the garage is a place for the following: - Parking cars
- Storing smaller motorized vehicles (snowmobiles, jet-skis, boats, lawnmowers, etc.)
- Storing and using tools
- Storing recreational equipment
Ready?... Take a few moments to jot down your intentions, why you want to organize your garage. Put your intentions in the present tense as if you are already experiencing them. Here are some examples: - My garage is my quiet and organized space where I can go to relax and work on hobbies.
- The garage has a place for everything, and I can easily find whatever tool I need.
- Our children learn how to organize and store their sports equipment because every item has a place.
Now, allow your intentions to guide your actions as you move through the next steps...
